History
Seaforth Shipping (Kenya) Ltd. was founded in 1975. The company is locally registered with its head office in
Mombassa and branch offices in Nairobi and Dar-es-Salaam. Seatrade Agencies is a brand name within the
Seaforth Group created to overcome potential conflicts and allow certain principals unique market identity.
Other Activities:
through the Port of Mombassa. They have had business handling vessels for C.R.S. and several other aid
agencies and their advice on shipping matters is frequently sought on cargo movements by CARE, US AID,
USDA and The Australian Wheat Board.
Seaforth was elected the Multiport Ship Agency Network Member for Kenya effective January 1, 1999.
Seaforth Shipping was established to provide entire range of shipping services to ship owners, operators, and
cargo interests in East Africa.
Our service profile encompasses Liner & Tramp agencies, Stevedoring, Freight Forwarding and NVOCC
operations. Seaforth and Seatrade Ltd. operate together in Kenya and in Tanzania to form the largest
independent shipping agency company in East Africa.
Liner & Tramp Agencies
Seaforth offers Liner Agency services to ship owners with interests in East Africa. Our services in this area
relate to handling their vessels at Mombasa, Dar-es-Salaam, & Tanga and Mtwara as protecting agents.
Material Handling
Stevedoring and handling of bulk and breakbulk cargos is a specialized function for us supported by reliable
specialist sub-contractors. We undertake discharge and loading of vessels at all major East African ports.
We are able to offer a ‘one stop shop’ service to ship owners and cargo interests for stevedoring, warehousing,
customs clearance, lighterage and inland deliveries.
Integrated Services
Seaforth in association with partner companies and an international network is able to provide end-to-end
logistics and complete supply chain management solutions. We are also one of the largest NVOCC operators in
East Africa handling large volumes of export cargos as well as servicing inbound cargo from numerous
countries of the world. Our experience in this field makes us the first stop for many exporters to destinations
not on the regular shipping lanes.
Cruise Ships
We have considerable experience in handling Cruise vessels calling Mombasa, Dar-es-Salaam, Zanzibar and
some smaller ports in East Africa.
